Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child's need for good nutrition. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to help children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow, throughout the summer months when they are out of school.

The Summer Food Service Program for children and teens is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and is administered locally by the Baltimore Housing Office of Community Services. An extension of the National School Lunch Program, which is designed to guarantee eligible children free and nutritious breakfasts and lunches during the school year, the Summer Food Service Program was created to guarantee these same youngsters at least one nutritionally sound meal a day during their summer vacations.

Baltimore Housing encourages your participation in the program to assist us in providing this valuable service to the children and teens of Baltimore City. Any non-profit organization, church, day camp, community group, or city agency may qualify to become a SFSP site.

If you are interested in participating in the program we offer two ways to apply. Complete our on-line application form or download an application. Completed applications may be mailed to Summer Food Service Program, 1135 N. Gilmor Street - 2nd Floor, Baltimore, MD 21217 or e-mailed to Nicole Hart.

Applications are currently being accepted for the Summer of 2024 which operates weekdays from June 17 through August 23, pending verification of Baltimore City Schools' calendar.
If you need assistance or additional information please contact Nicole Hart at 410-396-1932. All inquiries will be addressed in a timely manner.
